Robert Griffin III Drops A Million Inspirational Quotes At His Browns Intro Press Conference

ESPN– Robert Griffin III’s walk-off comment said it all — of his attempt to revive both his career and the Cleveland Browns.

“No pressure, no diamonds,” the Browns’ newest quarterback said.

“I know the history, a little bit, of Cleveland,” Griffin said. “And guys sometimes don’t want to come here. I wanted to come here. I wanted to be here, and I wanted them to know that.”

“I am not trying to let any baggage hold me down from the past, but I do have a massive chip on my shoulder. I know this team has a massive chip on its shoulder,” he said.

“We’re going to run the best offense that we can for the personnel that we have,” Griffin said. “That’s why they call him coach.”

I think it’s about time we declare that RG3 is back. You don’t just drop that many hammerhead quotes at the podium without knowing you’re back. Just look at all the previous Browns quarterbacks. Those guys were losers. Did Tim Couch ever have a massive chip on his shoulder? Did Brady Quinn have baggage? Did Trent Dilfer know the history of the Browns? Did goddamn Ty Detmer say he was humble when he was really not humble at all?

The answer to all these questions is a resounding NO. Those guys came in and gave bland press conferences. RG3, AKA former Redskins great, AKA that guy whose knee snapped in half vs Seattle, instead came in and told it like it is. Washington? Psh, that place is for the weak. He wants to win championships.

I actually believe RG3 when he says he wants to be in Cleveland. There’s literally no expectations as a Brown. If he wins 6 games it’s a success. If he wins 8 he’s a savior. And if he wins 10, that stupid Browns jersey may finally get retired.

Now yes there is probably a better chance that Griffin will be more of a Jake Delhomme type. But coming in that hot with so many quotes in his back pocket, I need to be convinced he’s not the savior more than I need to be convinced that he is. That was kind of a confusing sentence but I think I’ve made my point.

Also love how he threw this reporter’s question right back in his face.

“Have you ever been able to not write?”

Poetry.

P.S- I don’t think the Browns are gonna be very good.
