Early Free Agency: Travis Benjamin to San Diego, Ladarius Green to Pitt, Janoris Jenkins to Giants

Travis Benjamin, San Diego:

With Malcom Floyd retiring, Benjamin could be a nice addition to a San Diego receiving corps that should be called a receiving corpse because I can’t think of one good receiver they have. Actually Keenan Allen is pretty good but you get what I’m saying. Benjamin is the deep threat San Diego needs as Allen is more of a possession receiver. Also Travis could help the Charger return game. Or he could be a huge bust, the guy has only had one good season.

Marvin Jones, Detroit:

Another team needing to fill a retirement gap, the Lions bring in a middling Bengal receiver who never really fit with the Bengals because he never got into legal trouble. Now obviously if you’re going to bring in a Cincinnati receiver to replace Megatron, AJ Green would be the more apt fit. But Jones will do. He’s a little underrated and will allow Golden Tate to finally be a #1 receiver (the Lions may be screwed).

Ladarius Green, Pittsburgh:

Heath Miller retires and the Steelers bring in the big Chargers tight end who has been Matthew Berry’s “breakout fantasy player” for five straight years. Only he’s been stuck behind Antonio Gates who gets hurt one year and puts up unbelievable numbers the next. Green will be a natural fit in Pittsburgh, it’s actually scary how good this offense could be.

Antonio Gates, San Diego:

Chargers re-sign Antonio Gates who will no longer have the cushion of Ladarius Green behind him. This will put pressure on the soon to be 36-year-old receiver and he will have his worst season yet.

Janoris Jenkins, New York Giants:

Janoris Jenkins will be primarily used as Odell Beckham Jr.’s personal agitator in practice. Remember when Steve Smith said he’s gonna bust Janoris in his fucking mouth? Scary stuff but Janoris hasn’t cowered in fear, he’s actually become one of the top cornerbacks in the game.

Matt Forte, New York Jets:

Nice signing for the Jets who lose Chris Ivory to Jacksonville and may lose Ryan Fitzpatrick as well. Yes, this team kinda looks like the 2013 Chicago Bears with Forte and Marshall but with a solid defense, this team is nothing like those Bears.

The Jets also signed back Bilal Powell which is huge because I was terrified the Pats would snag him.

Lamar Miller, Houston Texans:

This is the most obvious signing in history. Do you remember when that-guy-in-your-fantasy-league almost dropped Lamar only to have him go off for 236 total yards and 2 touchdowns against Houston? That guy then probably won your league, claiming he stuck with Miller knowing he would turn it around? Yeah fuck that guy. Anyway once the Texans cut ties with Foster it made sense to throw money at the guy who torched them.
